Saying good bye to the Yankes Stadium. A team that I used to be a fan of back in the 70's. I saw a game there once, it was a great experience to see the great players of that time.

Yankee Stadium Memories - A Farewell
What Is Your Favorite Sport Team's Logo?

Looking for a sport team's logo history? Or maybe you can't remember the logo of the rival team? Maybe you need to study the logos for your design class? Perhaps you are just bored..
Chris Creamer's sport logo's site has logos for the following sport fields, current and old, basketball, college, football, hockey, lacrosse, Olympics, rugby and soccer/football. There is even a logo almanac. I spent a long time viewing the almanac. It was fun to view the teams' older logos. I am quite impressed by the amount of work that Mr. Creamer has done.
In case you are wondering, the top logo, with the cowboy shooting and holding a bottle, is the 49ers logo from 1946 - 1967. I used to be a big fan of this team during their heydays.

Find The Pac!

A huge list of the arcade video games from the KLOV. They even have video games from the 1970's. Some of these 'oldies' brought me back memories. I remember when the Pong came out. It was so cool and innovative back in those days. It's still a cool game, isn't it? Note that there are symbols on the right next to each video game's info on the list. I noticed that it's not too accurate. Some shows that there is no cabinet, while there is in fact, a cabinet.
At the International Arcade Museum you'll see additional selections of other type of game machines, like Slot Machines (Coin-Op) where you'll see machines from the beginning of the 20th century! There are also a bunch from the 19th century at the Trade Stim section. Unfortunately, there are no pictures of those.
Other machine types at the Museum are: Arcade, Music (jukebox), Pinball, Scales, Trade Stims (stimulators) and Vending.
Don't forget to check the "The Top Coin-Operated Videogames of all Times"!

Gentlemen & Their Hats

An interesting history of the History of Straw hats & Felt hats. The history of the hat obviously goes back centuries ago. The site starts with the history of the Straw hats & Felt where it introduces the Derby hat. It tells us that the felt apparently was first used by the nomadic tribes of Asia who made tents and clothing from it. The Romans were early users of this material for a hat called "Petatsus" which was a skull caps. The slaves were given to the slaves when they acquired freedom. The fur felt was very common by 1600 eventually paving a way for the tail beaver hats. Eventually the Derby hat was invented (It doesn't give the year, but I found out that it was invented in 1850).
The Hat History presents us the other hats: the dress hat, gangster fedoras, panama, western, borsalino, dobbs, Indiana Jones, stetson, and golf. Regarding the man above, I believe he is Bartholomew "Bat" Masterson, the famous pal of Wyatt Earp.

Take A Guess

Wallet Pop has money and products related quizzes. It's website that is about finance/money & business (that what I've gathered. There is no "about us" page). There are interesting quizzes from the last 3 years. I counted a total of 51 quizzes. I did the "Can You Spot The Fake Product?", and did very well. But as someone who "grew up" with ketchup, I can't believe I failed the Ketchup question! I was so sure I had it right! By the way, the Grocery Product Timeline quiz is a cool one. One question that I liked from that quiz was "When Popsicles were first released in 1905 what were they originally called? A) Epsicles B) Icicles C) Pop-Ice D) Ice Pops"
Below are six quiz examples:
How Smart of a Driver Are You?
Country of Origin for Top Brands
Know Who's Face Is on Your Money?
Taxes: Is It Deductible?

Read My Lips - Sort Of..

Check these General Mills lip balm products from the Boston America Corp. The company specializes in manufacturing and distributing licensed novelty and gift products.
These lip balm are too cool! I don't think I'd actually use them. I will just stick to the Burt's Bee Wax ;-) But I wouldn't mind having these lip balms on display. There are also lip balms from Pillsbury and Betty Crocker.
I also liked the Energy Drinks section. Love the Donkey Kong, and the Mr. Men & Little Miss drinks! Most of the other stuff are for young children and pre teens. These items are good for birthday parties.

YouTube - Grandma's Breakdance
A video from last year. Hadn't seen this one. It is a funny Russian Commercial for "Snickers Mad Mix". I wonder what year this commercial has taken place. I believe it is either from 2002 or 2003.

If you go to the AOL video site, you'll see the same video in a much bigger format. The quality is excellent. I am unable to post the video from AOL in my blog. You'll have to go there directly.

Texas Bird's-Eye Views

The "Texas Bird's-Eye Views" is an exhibition from the Amon Carter Museum in Texas. It took place on February 18 - May 28, 2006. So, old news.. These bird's eye views prints were drawn in the 19th and early 20th centuries. It wasn't an easy process since there was nothing to based it on while on the ground. Basically, what the sites tells us is, to create the bird's eye view, the artist would draw from an idled hot air balloon in the air. These panoramic maps were usually over 3 feet wide. They usually were drawn by hand using a two point perspective, and later used these to make a three dimensional rendering. The exhibit presents many of these drawings. There is so much more details and additional information about the process under "Bird's-Eye Views: Brief History". It's actually an interesting material to read about.
These maps are all of Texas' towns. Galveston which is currently under Ike, is here also. The maps are categorized, so it should be easy for you to look up for a certain town. There are bios of eight artists. It is incredible knowing that they had to use special process to make these maps, without all the advantage that we have today. Furthermore, they had make them accurate.
Here the first map from the bottom is of Houston, and the one on the top is of Waco.

My Dog Is My Buddy Too!

Hey, 10 cool dog breed quizzes. You'll find the buddy site to be fun and full of information. There are 5 YouTube pet videos, dog name directory, daily dog news, celebs and presidential dogs, famous movie and tv dogs, veterinarian, dog health, nutrition, obedience, food poisoning. The list goes on and on.
Here is one quiz (you'll have to look it up to find the answer):
Which dog cannot bark?
a) Basenji
b) Irish Wolfhound
c) Sealyham Terrier
d) Rhodesian Ridge
The site is nice, but I have no idea who run it , or what their speciality is. It would have been nice to know if they are professionals. Also, I would have love to see information or stories about service dogs,
I have not checked their links directory. So I can't give feedback on their validity and safety.
